An industry-led Creative Industries Taskforce has developed a draft Creative Industries Industry Action Plan for NSW.

NSW is Australia's creative industries hub, with approximately 148,000 residents directly employed by the sector, accounting for about five per cent of the State's employment, and generating $1.5 billion in exports.

A Newspoll survey conducted for the Australian Writers’ Guild in March 2013 shows that a clear majority of 6 in 10 Australians support additional Australian comedy and drama requirements for the new digital free-to-air channels, and 6 in 10 Australians would find a reduction in the levels of local children’s live action content unacceptable.

The Sapphires is being distributed by The Weinstein Company in the US and has opened on four screens – two in Los Angeles and two in New York – with The Weinstein Company planning to platform to other cities over the coming weeks.
