23 Jan 09 | Tropfest - Max Tropscore update - Sunday 22 February 2009
Movie Extra Tropfest and MAX have announced the Top 20 Finalists for MAX TROPSCORE, the incredible new competition which celebrates music in film by offering a creative platform for musicians to participate in the art of writing a score for a short film. With over one hundred entries it has been a very successful inaugural year for the new addition to Movie Extra Tropfest 2009.
Entrants created an original musical score or synch for a three-minute short film directed by Luke Eve, one of Australia’s most in demand young directors and producers. A panel of industry representatives then reviewed the submissions and produced a shortlist of 20 finalists from around the country.
This shortlist will be culled to three finalists. Of these three, one winner will get the chance to perform their score live at the festival, and have their piece included on the 2009 Movie Extra Tropfest Finalist DVD in The Sydney Morning Herald. They will also receive a fantastic Gibson prize package.
The winner will be determined by a panel of judges consisting of Tim Finn (singer, songwriter); Nigel Westlake (composer, performer and conductor); Luke Eve (2005 Tropfest winner, Director of MAX Tropscore short film); Megan Brown (Creative and On-Air Director – Music Channels, XYZnetworks); and Andrew Mast (Managing Director, Street Press Australia).
You can view the Top 20’s entries at the MAX TROPSCRE Website. The winner of MAX TROPSCORE will be revealed at Movie Extra Tropfest on Sunday 22 February.
You can also find festival details, screening venues and regular updates on the Movie Extra Tropfest Website.
Movie Extra Tropfest is supported by the FTO through the Industry & Audience Development Grants program.
