Create NSW and ABC announced two VR development initiatives
Create NSW has announced two new development initiatives for practitioners developing work in the field of Virtual Reality.
The first is a fund of $120,000 for practitioners across the arts, including performing arts, visual arts, museums, music, literature, to develop projects up to $20,000 each.
The second is a fund of $120,000 for screen practitioners through a partnership between Create NSW and ABC.
The funds were announced by Create NSW CEO Michael Brealey at 360 Vision 2017, an industry event developed by Screen NSW, in partnership with ABC, Screen Australia, City of Sydney, AFTRS and event partner Carriageworks, which brought together some of the best Australian screen producers, screen and theatre directors, writers and artists to meet with Australian and international VR content and production studios and professionals for two days of inspiration and information.
Michael Brealey, CEO of Create NSW, said: “360 Vision was incredibly successful last year, bringing together some of Australia’s most visionary creative thinkers from the screen and technology sectors. It’s thrilling to have forged ahead with a second event in 2017 and for Screen NSW to be taking the lead, in partnership with the ABC, Screen Australia, City of Sydney and AFTRS in this exciting new area of visual story telling.
“This year, the establishment of Create NSW also provides the opportunity for artists outside the screen industry to engage with VR opportunities and we are looking to identify and develop a number of projects over the coming year.”
