The Artist’s Room hosts Gillian Armstrong
In March, Event Cinema George Street is holding the fourth instalment of "The Artist's Room", on the eve of International Women’s Day, with multi-award-winning feature film and documentary director, Gillian Armstrong, hosted by leading screen industry commentator, Margaret Pomeranz.
The rare and insightful one hour Q&A experience with Gillian live and in-person, is followed by a screening of her 1982 classic Starstruck, starring Jo Kennedy, Ross O’Donovan and a young Geoffrey Rush. The Artist's Room is about giving fans an up-close and personal insight and experience into Australian Movie Stars with all funds going to a Create NSW and an Event Cinemas fund for a screenwriter’s development program called The Writer's Room.
With a very complete and highly awarded catalogue of films including My Brilliant Career, Little Women, Not Fourteen Again, Mrs Soffel, Oscar and Lucinda, The Last Days of Chez Nous and Love, Lust & Lies. Gillian’s films and documentaries have screened at numerous international film festivals including Berlin, Singapore, Sundance and Cannes. Her films have been nominated for Academy and Golden Globe Awards and received awards from the Australian Film Institute, the Film Critics Circle of Australia, the Houston Film Festival, Festival International de Creteil the US National Society of Film Critics, the British Critics Association and the British Academy.
