First Nations Screen Fellowship

Screen NSW First Nations Screen Fellowship is a rare opportunity for a First Nations screen practitioner to be awarded support towards professional development in their chosen field within the screen industry.

The initiative is geared towards propelling the career of a mid-career to established First Nations screen practitioner with a self directed program of career advancement. "The fellowship aims to unearth this talent and open the door for the recipient to pursue the career development direction of their choosing” Ms Hepworth said.

Screen NSW is dedicated to increasing First Nations representation in the creative industries and ensuring the legacy of storytelling is continued on screen. This targeted support for NSW First Nations screen practitioners is a signal of this commitment in this space.

The First Nations Screen Fellowship will provide $25,000 in financial support to one recipient to undertake a self-directed professional development plan, which may include the development of a new work, research and travel, mentorship, or industry exposure.

Screen NSW welcomes Expression of Interest proposals from mid-career to established screen practitioners, identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and living in NSW.

Expressions of Interest proposals for the inaugural Screen NSW First Nations Fellowship are to be submitted via Smarty Grants from 11 May 2023 until 5pm (AEST) 30 June 2023. Please note that due to the high-volume of applications made to Screen NSW, we are unable to offer extensions on deadlines.
