Join us at 1pm on Friday 26 April 2024 as we do a deep dive with Paul Wiegard, Co-Founder and CEO of Madman Entertainment, into the Australian theatrical landscape, what he’s looking for across feature films and documentaries and gain some understanding of his approach to the international market.
Paul will be in conversation with Screen NSW Investment Manager Amelia Rowe, followed by a Q&A.
Paul is the Co-Founder and CEO of Madman Entertainment, a leading independent distributor in Australia and New Zealand. Through Madman Entertainment, Paul has distributed more than 30 Oscar nominated films including Parasite, Anatomy Of A Fall, The Zone of Interest, Perfect Days and Searching For Sugarman. He has also Executive Produced over 40 feature films and documentaries including The Australian Dream, Nitram, High Ground, The Giants and Girl’s Cant Surf.
In 2020, Paul established European based development fund CCM, which currently has several films in production. He also established streaming platform DocPlay, which is dedicated to presenting a curation of the world’s most amazing and thought-provoking documentaries.
Paul is the current President of Australian Independent Distributors Association (AIDA), Co-Chair of Australian Documentary Conference (AIDC), and Board Member of Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and Screenrights.
