Parking & Road Closures
As part of the NSW Government's Film Friendly measures a number of legislative amendments have been made that impact on film-related parking and road closures.
The most significant of these changes are:
- Prescribing a filming project and any activity that is ancillary to carrying out of a filming project as a road event; and
- Exempting heavy and long vehicles stopping on a length of road in a built-up area for longer than 1 hour if the vehicle is stopped for a purpose connected with the carrying out of an authorised filming project.
The RTA (now RMS) developed guidelines, 'Filming Projects: Guidelines for parking and road closures' that provide recommendations of good practice to councils and the screen industry in these areas. The amendments and guidelines came into effect on May 1, 2009.
