Climate

Sydney has a temperate climate with warm summers, cool winters, and moderate rainfall spread throughout the year. Sydney's proximity to the ocean means that the mercury never rises too high or drops too low.

The warmest month is January, with an average temperature range of 18-26°C (66-78°F). Winters are mild, with temperatures rarely dropping below 5°C (41°F) in coastal areas. The coldest month is July, with an average range of 8-16°C (46-61°F).

The city is not affected by cyclones or hurricanes.

In regional NSW, the weather becomes drier as you travel west (inland). Winters can be very cold and dry, while summers are mostly hot and dry. The average maximum during the summer months (November to March) is about 32°C (90°F).
