Insurance

By law, all production companies should have an Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Workers Compensation insurance and Public Liability insurance.

Stringent safety requirements apply to the screen industry, especially in regard to special effects, stunts, firearms and weapons. Only appropriately qualified people are permitted to operate in these fields.

Filmmakers must be able to satisfy the relevant location authority that they hold all necessary licences and permits for their proposed filming activities and will need to check the level of insurance cover required.

Filmmakers should expect to provide cover for $20 million in most cases, and more may be required under special circumstances for significantly higher risk projects.
